At the Texas Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, dental implants serve as the ultimate tooth-replacement option. By securely anchoring artificial teeth directly to the jawbone, you can achieve a result that looks and feels more like your natural teeth. We provide patients in The Woodlands and Houston, TX and surrounding areas with outstanding implant dentistry services, including the surgical placement of dental implants. We use ASTRA TECH Systems and Nobel Biocare dental implants. Implant dentistry process involves 2 phases: surgical placement of the dental implant(s), and placement of the restoration. The Texas Center for Cosmetic Dentistry is distinguished among Houston-area implant dentistry centers, since we perform both phases here at our facility in The Woodlands, TX. Both are performed while the patient is under local anesthesia. We provide advanced pain-management options, including sedation dentistry, to make the implantation process as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Mini-implants are the same as regular dental implants only they are much smaller in diameter, and are used in denture stabilization.
Dental Implants Reviews
"So thankful that we found Dr. Lewis! Our daughter needs dental implants and word of mouth and a little research led us to him. She's got one more procedure to go (the big one!) and she'll have the smile she deserves. She has already gotten so many compliments and we're only halfway there. Dr. Lewis and his staff are so friendly and eager to assist in any way they can to make this experience a good one. We live out of town and feel like the travel has definitely been worth it. Highly recommend Dr. Guy Lewis!!"- D.A. / Facebook / Dec 23, 2016

"Dr. Atabakhsh is an excellent doctor with a good sense of humor that put his patient at ease right away. He did oral surgery to remove my broken tooth and performed an implants two years ago. I am very happy with the implants and I would highly recommend him to anyone that needs his dental services."- T.H. / Healthgrades / Sep 15, 2016
"I had been suffering with loose and infected teeth for the past few years. It was affecting my personal life, my job, and my health. Finally my cardiologist said that I had to fix my teeth because I was at risk for another heart attack! Dr. Atabakhsh was the only periodontist that I could trust with my treatment. He is a licensed periodontist who can do I.V. sedation, so all of my treatment was done while I was sleep. He saved my teeth and replaced the missing teeth with dental implants."- C. / Healthgrades / Apr 08, 2016
The dentist begins the surgery by making a small incision in the gums in order to access the jawbone. Next, a small hole is drilled into the bone and the dental implant (a small titanium post) is carefully inserted. Finally, the implant is covered with gum tissue and allowed to heal. A temporary restoration may be worn until the implant site has healed. The healing process, called osseointegration, generally takes several months, during which time the dental implant adheres to the gums and jawbone. When the implant site has healed completely, the patient returns to our office to have the restoration placed.
This tooth will not only function like the patient’s natural teeth, but it will also feel and look like it as well. After it is determined that the bond between the implant and the bone is strong and secure, we are able to replace individual teeth with porcelain crowns and multiple teeth with implant-stabilized dentures (full or partial). To place the restoration, the dentist begins by uncovering the dental implant. Next, the restoration is carefully attached to the dental implant, assuring its fit with the surrounding teeth and bite. This step completes the restoration and the patient can leave our office with a restored smile.
Are Implants Painful?
Most patients report very little discomfort after receiving a dental implant. During the procedure, local anesthesia is administered to alleviate pain associated with bonding the tooth. If you are concerned about your level of discomfort, please speak with your dentist during the consultation about options.
Special Care for Implants?
To maintain the quality of the implant, it is important to maintain to a daily dental hygiene regimen. This involves brushing, flossing, and scheduling dental exams and cleanings.
Best Candidates for Implants?
Candidate for dental implants should be healthy enough to undergo oral surgery and is missing one or more tooth. It is important for patients to have healthy gums and they should commit to maintaining good oral hygiene. Patients will have the opportunity to discuss if dental implants are a viable treatment for them with their dentist during their consultation.
