Porcelain Veneers in Houston, TX

Overview

Porcelain veneers can make a dramatic difference in a person’s smile. After only a few office visits at the Texas Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, you’ll walk away with a set of porcelain veneers that can conceals flaws and provide a beautiful smile. Our Founding and Accredited Member of the AACD (American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry), Dr. Guy M. Lewis and his team of dental professionals provide patients in The Woodlands, from Houston, TX and surrounding communities with porcelain veneers. We work directly with out talented lab technician (for over 20 years) to make all our porcelain veneers.

Porcelain veneers are among the most advanced cosmetic dentistry treatments available. Veneers are tiny porcelain shells designed to conceal flaws, such as cracks, chips, discoloration, gaps and crookedness, by bonding to the front surfaces of natural teeth. Porcelain veneers can transform a smile in just two office visits. They are stain-resistant and custom-crafted to complement the unique beauty of each patient’s smile. When placed by a talented cosmetic dentist and maintained properly, porcelain veneers provide you with a long-lasting smile.

Treatment

For traditional porcelain veneers, our dentist begins by administering a local anesthesia. When the numbing has taken effect, he then gently removes a small portion of the enamel so the teeth can accommodate the width of the veneer. Next, he makes a mold of the teeth and mouth to send to the dental laboratory. There, a lab technicians will use this mold to custom-craft the veneers. Finally, Dr. Lewis will place temporary veneers, which the patient will wear until the porcelain ones are ready (usually about one week). At this point, you will return to our office for a second visit to have the veneers placed. Dr. Lewis will begin this visit by administering local anesthesia before removing the temporary veneers. He will then bond the porcelain veneers to the teeth and buff them to a shine.

I visited Dr Lewis to have some old veneers replaced on six of my upper teeth. I had braces and my first set of veneers twenty years ago (I am 53) initially to improve the color and shape of my teeth and correct the midline between my front teeth.. The braces and veneers were only partially successful because my teeth were still too many and too large. I had run out of teeth that could be removed to make extra space to further straighten my teeth. Over the years I resigned myself to having a slightly wonky smile. During my consultation with Dr Lewis, however, I asked if he could completely straighten my front teeth, correct the midline and balance my smile by making the front teeth less prominent, He agreed this was possible. By using full crowns on all my upper teeth Dr Lewis was able to correct the position of my upper teeth so they are completely straight and all in the correct, symmetrical position and a healthy colour.. This correction has also significantly lifted my facial features and some of my acquaintances assume I have had an actual facelift! Dr Lewis is the cosmetic dentist to see if you, like me, have made numerous attempts to correct complex dental issues. He takes the time to discuss all the options and the reasons for presenting these options. He is relaxed and reassuring. It is obvious that Dr Lewis and his team care about their clients and want them to have the best treatment outcome. Dr Lewis is supported by an outstanding team. The communication with administrative staff including the office reception is the best I have experienced. Enquiries are responded to promptly by the treatment coordinator Christine. Rachel and Brenda did a wonderful job supporting me through the process of prep for 12 crowns. My husband and I will be continuing to use the Texas Center for Cosmetic Dentistry for all our dental needs.

Do Veneers Stain?

Porcelain veneers are resistant to stains, however the veneers are partially transparent so if the natural teeth are stained this could result in a blotchy, discolored smile. Veneers will also stain if the patient does not brush their teeth regularly.

Covered By Insurance?

Since dental veneers are considered a cosmetic and not restorative or preventative service, most patients will not be covered by their dental insurance. Our office works with patients to provide payment plans and options to fit their needs and budget.

Veneers Special Care?

Much like the natural teeth, it is important to maintain a regular dental hygiene regimen to keep a porcelain veneers looking beautiful. Although there are no special care instructions for veneers, patients are encouraged to schedule routine dental exams and cleanings in additional to brushing, flossing, and maintaining a healthy diet.
