Overview
In some cases, the physical methods of making impressions are not ideal. Traditionally, you would have to sit as still as possible with a mouthful of putty for several minutes while a mold of your mouth was imprinted, and all for a simple plaster casting of your mouth. We offer traditional and digital impressions.
Digital impressions employ lasers and other optical scanning devices to render an in-depth, accurate depiction of your mouth straight to our computer screen for viewing. The payoff? More productivity, efficiency, and accuracy from us, and more comfort and less time in the dental chair for you. These are all great reasons to smile. Call and schedule a consultation if you would like to learn more about our digital imaging at our office in The Woodlands, TX.
Process
Preparation begins with the selected area of your mouth being cleaned. Depending on which system is employed, your teeth may need to be brushed with a specially formulated titanium dioxide powder. From there, we insert an intraoral wand into your mouth to begin capturing the data. Simultaneously, the data is rendered as an image onto the monitor. As the impression is reviewed in real-time, we can find and correct any mistakes with the data before it’s sent to our dental laboratory. As this is a better blueprint of your mouth, we can more accurately custom-create a solution for the teeth that need restoring. It should only take 3 – 5 minutes to scan your teeth and bite.
Texas Center for Cosmetic Dentistry Reviews
Such good care and attention. Could not ask for a better service! Thank you!!
My husband recently got his veneers done at Texas Center for Cosmetic Dentistry with Dr. Guy Lewis and Dr. Teddy, and we had an amazing experience from start to finish. The results came out perfect, and we are extremely happy with his new smile. Everyone in the office was knowledgeable, professional, and very welcoming. They made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. What really stood out to us was how attentive and caring the team was. They continuously followed up, checked on my husband after the procedure, and made sure he was recovering well and satisfied with everything. We truly appreciate the excellent care and highly recommend them to anyone considering cosmetic dentistry or veneers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are They Really Quicker?
With this new technology, we can engineer restorations (crowns, veneers, and fillings) usually in just a single office visit. You will spend less time in the dental chair and no longer have to endure biting into messy trays that take a long time to create.
Can You Make A 3D Model?
In some casese, we can make a 3D model of your teeth and gums with the digital impression technology. From your digital impression, we can create a 3D model of your teeth to point out and analyze your dental flaws for correction. We can also show you what your smile could look like with your proposed treatment plan right on the screen so you can see the difference in all your options.
Are There Other Benefits?
Digital impressions can easily be tweaked with rescanning the image instead of making you sit through another messy traditional impression. They are eco-friendly as they remove the need for plastic trays and goopy impression materials. Also, they can be digitally stored in your electronic dental chart for easy access for future use and comparisons.
