Overview
At the Texas Center for Cosmetic Dentistry, you are in great hands when it comes to implant dentistry. If you are missing even a single tooth, our cosmetic dentists, Dr. Lewis, and Dr. Atabakhsh, can provide you with a superior restorative in an implant crown. We use the finest medical-grade dental implants from Astra or Nobel Biocare, which are tiny posts composed of titanium, a biocompatible metal with your delicate oral tissues. The implant is surgically placed in the jawbone, where it functions as an artificial tooth root. When you have a missing tooth, you have options with Dr. Lewis and his experienced team. We invite you in for a private consultation in our office in The Woodlands or Houston, TX to discuss all your options to restore your smile, improve your oral health, and have a gorgeous restoration.
Treatment
In our surgical dental suite, we will proceed with a surgery under a local anesthesia to place the implant. Then, we will make an incision in your gums first to access your jawbone. Once an incision is made, we will drill a hole into the bone where a titanium implant will be placed. Gum tissue will be used to cover the implant for it to heal appropriately. A temporary crown will be placed unto the implant once it has fused to the jaw bone. Your gum will take several months to heal, which will allow the implant to adhere to your jawbone and gum tissue.
When your dentist has examined the implant, and recommends that it is time for the porcelain crown, the next phase of treatment can begin. Your dentist will remove the temporary restoration and attach your custom created porcelain crown.

Yes, it is expensive. BUT I WAS ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY by Dr Lewis’s attention to every little detail, his passion to make your smile gorgeous and quality of work. Dr Lewis and his nurses are absolutely amazing. I have a condition that causes my enamel deteriorate over time. By the age of 25 all my teeth were covered with veneers or crowns. I also have couple implants. I have worked with various dentists in Houston area and abroad. Dr Lewis and his team have exceeded all my expectations by far. Dr Lewis has changed all my crowns and veneers, upper and lower teeth. He also had to readjust my bite due to natural teeth movements with age and work done by other dentists. I get tons of compliments on how beautiful my teeth are. I have never felt this confident about my smile. It has made a huge impact on my life. Not to mention how comfortable all my teeth feel, my gums are a lot healthier now too. They don’t bleed or hurt nearly as much as before I got to work with Dr Lewis. Huge thank you to Dr Lewis and all his team for a wonderful experience and amazing smile!

Frequently Asked Questions
What Are The Benefits?
Are you wondering what the benefits of having a single implant crown are before putting in the time and investment? We can explain to you why an implant is a superior option. If you have lost a whole tooth and cannot have a crown, a dental implant can restore your tooth without a restoration that covers 3 teeth (a dental bridge). An implant is easier to clean than a dental bridge. An implant is not just about cosmetically correcting your smile. With an implant, you can preserve the bone socket and the surrounding bone from deterioration and jaw problems down the line.
How Do I Care For An Implant?
Your implant crown will be as easy to care for as your natural teeth. It is always a good plan to maintain a consistent oral hygiene routine, which should include brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing, and mouthwash. Visiting your dentist at least twice a year for a dental exam and cleaning can help your dentist keep an eye on the wear your implant crown endures between visits.
Will You Use Sedation?
The implant dentistry process involves two phases: surgical placement of the dental implant, and placement of the restoration (crown). Both are performed while the patient is under local anesthesia. We provide advanced pain-management options, including sedation dentistry, to make the implantation process as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
