Overview

Many people that experience TMJ or chronic migraines are desperate for a way to reduce their pain. They have tried everything from massage, acupuncture, painkillers, countless visits to other doctors, and even surgery. If you’ve tried these options and are still in pain, or don’t want to go through the long-term damage that some of these options propose, there is a drug-free, nonsurgical way to reduce your pain: TruDenta.

The chewing system consists of the teeth, the tongue, and the muscles of the neck and jaw. As we age, our teeth, mouth, and muscles accumulate stress and micro-traumas from things such as sports injuries, orthodontics, car wrecks, poor posture, teeth clenching, teeth grinding, or poor chewing habits. These stresses can lead to an imbalance or breakdown in any member of the chewing system. We offer private consultations in Houston and The Woodland, TX by our dentists, Drs. Lewis and Atabakhsh for patients seeking TMJ relief. We can also discuss options like TruDenta to help reduce your pain when other methods are just not working.

Treatment

In order to restore balance to the chewing system, the muscles of the neck and jaw need to be relaxed so that the teeth can be adjusted back to a healthy position. Our office is certified in the revolutionary TruDenta System to give balance to the chewing system and help alleviate pain. Patients that suffer from TMJ or migraines typically undergo 4 – 12 weeks of in-office muscle therapy and bite adjustments to reset and re-balance the chewing system. Once the chewing system is back in balance, many patients who experience chronic TMJ or chronic migraines report that their pain is reduced.

TMJ FAQs

Trudenta helps what condition?

If you suffer from TMJ, chronic migraines, vertigo, ringing of the ears, bruxism (clenching or grinding your teeth), or pain in the head neck or back, we may be able to help reduce your pain. Can you imagine what life would be like if you had little to no pain from temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ) or migraines? What impact would it have on your family and your quality of life? If this sounds like something that you thought was unattainable, TruDenta may be the answer that you are seeking!

What Nerve does it target?

The main nerve center to which the chewing system reports is called the trigeminal nerve center, which also happens to be the same nerve center that generates migraines, headaches, and pain in the face and neck. Because of this shared nerve center, imbalances in any member of the chewing system can trigger an alert in the trigeminal nerve center and generate migraines, TMJ, headaches, and pain in the neck or back. In order to restore balance to the chewing system, the muscles of the neck and jaw need to be relaxed so that the teeth can be adjusted back to a healthy position. We accomplish this with TruDenta.

How many appointments?

TruDenta is not a one-size-fits-all type of treatment.  Joint pain is unique to each patient, and the number of sessions is dependent on the severity of the condition. During your private consultation with one of our experienced dentists, you will discuss what kind of time commitment and number of appointments will be needed to start to feel real results.
