Few tooth troubles rival the one brought on by time: tooth deterioration and decay affect all teeth eventually. Worse yet, cavities are still possible even with good dental hygiene habits. Let our office at the Texas Center for Cosmetic Dentistry help you bolster your mouth’s defenses with dental sealant. A sealant is a thin, protective coating comprised of plastic or other dental materials, which coats the chewing portion of your teeth. With this coating, your teeth are protected from acid-spawning bacteria that festers from leftover food particles. Sealant has a lifespan of several years and you can rest assured that your teeth are protected against cavities. Visit our office in The Woodlands or Houston, TX to have a dental examination and consultation to see if dental sealant is right for you.

When I say "everyone," that's what I mean, from the person at the front desk to the assistants and doctors and the cashier. Very pleasant atmosphere!"- C.E. / SmileReminder / Apr 25, 2017
"Hands down best experience! Penny at the front desk was sensational. She greeted me with a smile, was very comforting, and a true professional. The best person to have as the first person you see. Julie was also fantastic. So kind and helpful. Both are true assets to Dr. Lewis’ team. Finally, Dr. Atabakhsh was phenomenal. He put my daughter at ease and did such an awesome job removing her wisdom teeth. Thank you all for making this experience a great one!"- K.V. / Google / Jun 14, 2018
"Amazing. - Off the charts. Talented, compassionate and caring. No complaints.... only awe over the hard work and long hours he rebuilt my mouth. Amazing. Why this review must be at least 200 characters long is ridiculous. Anyone knows what amazing means. No words to describe better. And only let u pick one procedure? He rebuilt my smile!"- G. / RealSelf / Jun 14, 2018

"A wonderful team! - Christine is extremely nice and is very helpful with any and all questions. She is always available for questions by person, email and/or phone. She never makes you feel that you are bothering her and she always makestime to check on you at home after your procedure. Penny is very caring and has a wonderful bubbly personality when you first get there. Which is fabulous because it makes you feel right at home and at ease. All the ladies from the dental hygienists to Dr. Lewis's assistants are all wonderful, caring and genuinely sweet. They are all eager to help and if they don't know the answer they immediately get you an answer. I can't think of a single incident where I didn't feel cared for or treated with respect. I always recommend Dr. Lewis and his team to my friends an"- C.S. / SmileReminder / Jun 10, 2018
The application of dental sealant is relatively quick. First our staff will prep your mouth by thoroughly cleaning and drying the teeth before applying an acidic gel. This gel essentially scores the surface of your teeth at a miniscule level to allow the sealant a better bond. After only a few seconds, the gel is rinsed away and the teeth are re-dried. Finally, the sealant is applied to the newly-grooved teeth and activated with a dental curing light.
Where Do You Put Sealant?
Sealant is typically used to cover molars. As they are the rough, uneven back teeth, molars are a prime place for food particles to settle and therefore susceptible to bacteria and cavities. Your dentist will provide you with a treatment plan to get the most out of your investment in sealant.
Who Should Get Sealant?
While both children and adults can benefit from sealant, children benefit exponentially more so. Sealing your child's molars when they arrive can help prolong their oral health. It is also beneficial to patients who are more prone to cavities.
